History

In 1973, soul singer Al Green became a born-again Christian. A year later, after surviving a traumatic incident involving an attack that left him hospitalized, he dedicated his life fully to God. In 1976, he became a Baptist minister and established the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis, Tennessee.

Located near Graceland, the church is modest in appearance but rich in spirit, featuring stained glass windows and a striking mural of the rapture. Though Al Green’s touring schedule sometimes keeps him away, he still preaches when available. Sunday services begin at 11:30 a.m. and draw visitors from all over the world, both for worship and the chance to experience the church led by the legendary artist-turned-pastor.
